Just to make clear, the algerian team are all algerian, with algerian passports, and the morocco team are all moroccan apart from 1 french player who has lived in morocco for many years with his family.

But would they all be eligible to play in IIHF tournaments? In case there are dual citizens, they would need to have played two seasons in Algeria/Morocco (I assume they haven't played any NT games for other countries).

Man, that sucks, considering Algeria & Morocco doesn't have the dinars like UAE & Kuwait does to bring in people from other countries. Keep up the hard work on your end.

Yeah, but there are probably a lot more expats/dual-nationals in hockey playing countries from Morocco and Algeria than UAE and Kuwait.

I'm quite wondering how could Team Algeria lose. Were the Czechs and Belarussians that good? More organized? Well prepared? Less motivation?
Because honestly I do think that a team that isn't motivated doesn't go anywhere. I think a good example would be some matches in the WCs.

For us we had a strong 1st line with Litim, Boukhaloua and Benyahia, and a decent 2nd line with Fahas, Hamri and Bouhadouf, but our defense and goaltending were poor, we let in alot of soft goals. We took alot of penalties aswell, quite a few goals scored against us on the powerplay. Next time we must have a longer training camp, with more players and make cuts. |

next time all players should be required to hold citizenship...
it might not completely eliminate the problem, but it technically should. |

olympic according to the emirates federation, but im not the best at judging rink sizes. The plexi had small NHL stickers on them tho.
Algeria had the largest crowd after the home team, the home crowd were loud and had drums n a speakerphone and would sing chants. The games were back to back so at the warm up for the 1st game there were hardly any crowd but gradually the arena would fill up. |
