    KHL KHL career stats

I was looking around for KHL "career" stats, ie the combined stats from the first two season. The only thing I could find was the KHL totals on the player pages on khl.ru, and even there only on the Russian version. So I made a scripts that downloads all the player pages and collects the career stats from there. I will process that data and post some of the results here over the next few days.

I start with the scoring stats. The pages list 912 players with scoring stats (ie not goalies), 897 of them have played at least 1 game and only 15 have played the maximum of 112 games. There are 7 players with 100 or more points:

I'm wondering, how many players in the KHL still haven't missed a single game.

Among Dinamo Riga's players there's only one - Martins Cipulis, who, consequently, has 115 consecutive games played.

My stats so far refer only to the regular-seasons. I don't know how it looks like when the play-offs are included. I currently don't have that data and it would be more complex to figure out as one would have to compare a players GP number to the number of games that his team(s) played during the play-offs.

But as I mentioned above, there are a maximum of 112 regular-season games for each team so far (except for Khimik and Avtomobilist), and 15 players have played in all of them:
Mozyakin Sergei, Yashin Alexei, Podhradsky Peter, Vasicek Josef, Taratukhin Andrei, Kokarev Denis, Boykov Alexander, Nikitenko Andrei, Churilov Gennady, Guskov Alexander, Tkachenko Ivan, Glinkin Anton, Zhitnik Alexei, Cipulis Martins, Koledayev Alexei

And here are the basic stats for the goalies, for now I do wins and shutouts. The khl.ru player pages list 123 goalies, of which 92 have played in at least 1 game. Vasily Koshechkin has the most games with 92.

So, with a little assistance of eliteprospects.com, I manually checked the playoff stats for these 15 players. Only one of them(Guskov) didn't play all playoff games for his team(Lokomotiv), while Kokarev's MVD and Koledaev's Novokuznetsk were left out of them.

As a result, this is the current list of players with the most consecutive games in the KHL.

1 Yashin, Vasicek, Churilov, Tkachenko 131
    5 Zhitnik 124
    6 Mozyakin, Boikov 119
    8 Taratukhin 116
9 Cipulis, Podhradsky, Nikitenko, Glinkin 115
    13 Kokarev, Koledaev 112

Clever idea, GX! Of course, 15 can be checked manually.

Ok, here is one last piece of stat for today: Robert Esche is the scoring leader among goalies with 4 assists.

More tomorrow. I will certainly do penalty minutes. (Although the winner there is obvious...). What else would make sense and is interesting?

    Rookies, their stats for example.

You can involve players younger than maybe 20 years, last season and this one.

Wildboar, excellent thread. I changed a couple of flags and fixed a couple of spellings of foreign players.

Thanks for the feedback, guys! Funny that so many foreign player names are misspelled. I took them from en.khl.ru without verifying the correctness. It seemed that they have manually transliterated at least some of the names, so that at least things like Yaromir Yagr disappeared. But obviously the English names are still a problem.

As for the rookie stats, thats a good idea. Currently I don't have the season-by-season data that would be necessary for that. But it would also allow to compile records such as "most points per season" etc. There is also a game-by-game log for each player that
would allow to extract game records (most points etc) and streaks. So if I have time, I think I should improve my scripts a bit to extract even more data. Further ideas would be franchise leaders for each team and leaders by nationality.

But for now I have, as promised, the penalty minutes stats. The Canadians clearly dominate in this "discipline":

I finally found some time to do the play-off career stats. Here is the first bit: the top scorers. 462 skaters have played in at least one play-off game, 332 of them scored at least 1 point.

Well, surprise, surprise, the play-off PIM leaders are not from that country, and that team never qualified for the play-offs, so there are other players at the top. 382 players have received penalty minutes in the KHL play-offs.

This is the updated list for the most consecutive games played. The only one, which falls out from the list, is Alexei Zhitnik, who didn't play a game for Spartak in the playoffs.

I am trying to update the career stats on about a monthly basis, so here is the update for October. These stats are only from the regular season.

We now have 991 players (skaters) with at least 1 game played. That means 94 new players have played this season. 847 have scored at least one point, which means 79 new scorers. 13 players have now reached the "milestone" of 100 points, the latest addition being Jaromir Jagr.

The current leader in number of KHL games played is Peter Podhradsky with 125. But this stat is not fair, because not all teams have played the same number of games.

I noticed you have also points per game column. Could you please post the top 10 for them, taking out players with, for example, less than 20 games played?

Does anybody know where to find career stats of KHL players?

It would be very interesting to follow milestones and current leaders in some categories.

Time for a little career stats update.

More than 1000 skaters have now played a KHL game, 1009 to be precise. 784 scored at least one goal, 845 at least one assist, and 867 at least one point.

Peter Podhradsky and Anton But are the players with the most games, both with 144 games.

There are now 17 players in the "100 points club" and Sergei Mozyakin is the first player in the "100 assists club".

    After 3rd KHL season

Finally, I have the career stats after the completion of the third KHL regular season. Here are the top 20 scorers, other tables will follow soon. Interestingly, Patrick Thoresen, who played only 2 seasons, is already number 14 on the list.

Since the KHK now also lists the nationality of (almost) every player, I made a list with the top scorers from every country. Of course, there can now be discussions of the nationalities of certain players, but I just took what the KHL lists.

He holds at least two passports of which one is Russian. Since he goes in KHL by his Russian passport he is seen by the league as Russian and import rule doesn't apply to him even thou he plays internationally for Germany. The same applies for Lewandowski, Koval and some other players who play for other national teams, but are seen by the league as Russians.

One thing is clear. Kotschnew has a Russian and a German passport. Although he was born in Kazakhstan his family comes from Russia. But sometimes its a bit weird with passports of former soviet countries. Maybe he has 3 passports but at least the two I mentioned and thats of course why the KHL says he is Russian because you dont have to give him a foreigner spot in your team).

Probably most of you who are interested in this topic have noticed that the KHL career stats are now available elsewhere, such as here
    http://www.quanthockey.com/khl/
    or here
    http://www.eliteprospects.com/league...sum_totals=yes.

Therefore I decided to start mining the game logs provided on khl.ru (such as this: http://www.khl.ru/players/16916/games/all/all/) in order to extract "Milestones". Of course, the KHL is still young, so there are no very impressive milestones yet. But a quick look might still be worthwhile...

For simplicity, data from regular season and play-offs are combined. Let's start with the number of games. 398 players have already reached their 100th KHL game. The first 10 were these:

    100 Games
    DatePlayer
    2009-11-15 Alexei Yashin
    2009-11-16 Dmitry Kazionov
    2009-11-17 Gennady Churilov
    2009-11-17 Ivan Tkachenko
    2009-11-17 Josef Vasicek
    2009-11-18 Andrei Pervyshin
    2009-11-18 Danis Zaripov
    2009-11-19 Alexei Vasilyev
    2009-11-19 Sergei Zhukov

The next milestone of 200 games has only been reached by 22 players. The first 10 were:

    200 Games

    DatePlayer
    2011-02-01 Niko Kapanen
    2011-02-16 Ivan Tkachenko
    2011-02-16 Josef Vasicek
    2011-02-20 Gennady Churilov

To the scoring: 50 players have scored 100 KHL points. The first 10 are listed below. The "GP" columns informs about the number of games played in order to reach the milestone.

    100 Points

    DatePlayerGP
    2009-10-18 Alexei Morozov 82
    2009-11-01 Sergei Mozyakin 83
    2009-11-14 Danis Zaripov 98
    2009-11-28 Alexei Yashin 105
    2010-01-20 Alexander Radulov 100
    2010-01-22 Jaromir Jagr 106
    2010-01-22 Mattias Weinhandl 100
    2010-01-24 Maxim Sushinsky 98
    2010-03-03 Jan Marek 98

Not surprisingly, the first players to reach this milestone also did so in few games. If we order the table by number of games needed, only Patrick Thoresen is new in the top 10:

100 Points (by number of games needed)

    2010-11-28 Patrick Thoresen 100
    2009-11-28 Alexei Yashin 105

So far, only 3 players have scored 200 points and more. Note that Radulov needed only 75 games for the second 100 points and Mozyakin only 77.

A last milestone table before the new season starts: 100 assists. Already 6 players have reached this mark, but nobody has yet scored 100 KHL goals.

So, I thought I could finally update the most consecutive games list. :) Or, better known as, "players who haven't missed a single game list", because, for example, Mikelis Redlihs recently played his 200th straight game and is ahead of Nikitenko, but missed a game in '08-'09.

The list has reduced from 13 to just 4 players. Interestingly, both Mozyakin and Glinkin missed one single game during the '10-'11 season.

    Pos
    Name
    GP
    1
R.I.P. Josef Vasicek and Ivan Tkachenko
    220
    3
    Denis Kokarev
    194
    4
    Andrei Nikitenko
    169

P.S. Both Kokarev and Nikitenko have missed some games this season, so there are no other players that haven't missed a single game since '08-'09.

I suppose you will be be updating them during the summer, when the season's over?

I have now downloaded the game logs including the last season, so I am able to create the milestone data again. I will present it here over the next few hours/days.

There are now 1321 players with at least one KHL game.
494 players have played at least 100 games (96 new in last season).
166 players have played at least 200 games (144 new in last season).

OK, first category is scoring points:

There are now 92 players with at least 100 points in the KHL. That's 42 new in the last season. We can skip the list of the first 10 to reach this milestone, since it is already in an earlier post. But the 10 fastest are interesting: Brandon Bochenski and Roman Cervenka are new in the top 10:

100 Points (by number of games needed)

    DatePlayerGP
    2009-10-18 Alexei Morozov 82
    2009-11-01 Sergei Mozyakin 83
    2012-02-15 Brandon Bochenski 89
    2011-12-21 Roman Cervenka 97
    2009-11-14 Danis Zaripov 98
    2010-01-24 Maxim Sushinsky 98
    2010-03-03 Jan Marek 98
    2010-01-20 Alexander Radulov 100
    2010-01-22 Mattias Weinhandl 100
    2010-11-28 Patrick Thoresen 100

And there are now 6 players with 200 KHL points. That is only 3 new in the last season:

    200 Points

Assists: Exactly 1000 players have now scored a KHL assist. And there are now 19 players with 100 or more assists (13 new in last season). This allows us to complete the list of the first 10 players to reach this milestone (bold=reached during last season):

    100 Assists

    DatePlayerGP
    2010-10-20 Alexander Radulov 142
    2010-10-22 Sergei Mozyakin 139
    2010-12-04 Alexei Morozov 169
    2011-01-10 Alexei Yashin 173
    2011-01-21 Ilya Nikulin 185
    2011-03-05 Josef Vasicek 209
    2011-09-23 Maxim Sushinsky 176
    2011-10-01 Branko Radivojevic 185
    2011-10-18 Alexander Korolyuk 198
    2011-10-18 Patrick Thoresen 158

And we can also sort the table to see who reached the milestones with the smallest number of games:

100 Assists (by number of games needed)

    DatePlayerGP
    2010-10-22 Sergei Mozyakin 139
    2010-10-20 Alexander Radulov 142

    2010-12-04 Alexei Morozov 169
    2011-01-10 Alexei Yashin 173
    2011-09-23 Maxim Sushinsky 176
    2012-01-09 Tony Martensson 179
    2011-01-21 Ilya Nikulin 185
    2011-10-01 Branko Radivojevic 185
