    Message to Rowan

    Hi Rowan,

the final table from Bosnia 2002-03 season, is - so far - not correct.

If you calculate the +Goals and the -Goals from all teams together, the "score" is: 445 : 338...... there is a different of 107 goals.....

But I know, this is the only available - but wrong - final table.

Regarding Mongolia ---> here are the scores from the 2004-05 season:

    Playoffs

1/2 Final Banganuur Eco. University Ulaanbaatar 7:4
1/2 Final Otgon Od Ulaanbaatar Shariin Gol 5:6
1/2 Final Banganuur Eco. University Ulaanbaatar 4:5
1/2 Final Otgon Od Ulaanbaatar Shariin Gol 6:5
1/2 Final Banganuur Eco. University Ulaanbaatar 8:4
1/2 Final Otgon Od Ulaanbaatar Shariin Gol 6:3
Place 3/4 Shariin Gol Eco. University Ulaanbaatar 6:4
Final Banganuur Otgon Od Ulaanbaatar 4:3 OT

Finaltable after the first Round (played in Bagnanuur)

    1. Banganuur 4 3 0 1 6
    2. Otgon Od Ulaanbaatar 4 3 0 1 6
    3. Economical University Ulaanbaatar 4 2 0 2 4
    4. Shariin Gol 4 2 0 2 4
    5. Erdenet-Hangardi 4 0 0 4 0

Finaltable after the second Round (played in Darkhan)

    1. Banganuur 4 6 points
    2. Otgon Od Ulaanbaatar 4 6 points
    3. Shariin Gol 4 5 points
    4. Economical University Ulaanbaatar 4 2 points
    5. Erdenet-Hangardi 4 1 points

here are some things I found about Bosnian hockey:

there are 4 teams: HK "Bosna", HK "Stari Grad", HK "Alfa" and HK "Ilidža2010" plus HK "Jahorina" that did not report any activities for the past season so it probably only exists on paper. the other clubs lacked money to needed to support a competition so there was no 2004/05 season.

in January, HK bosna played 2 friendly games with KHL INA Sisak from Croatia, losing the first 4-6 and winning the next one 7-5.

in February, their U18 national team participated in the qualification tournament for the Division III U18 championship. they beat Armenia but lost to the host, Turkey, and thus failed to qualify.

their biggest problem appears to be the lack of ice surface. the way i heard it, they only have ice for a month or two during the year. their ice rink in Zetra had been repaired but it is used mostly for other events and the ice rink in Skenderia needs to be repaired and renewed after it has been damaged and neglected during the war years. apparently, they plan to build another rink in Sarajevo, with maybe 1500 seats at the most, which will be cheaper to maintain and used exclusively for skating, hockey, curling and other ice sports. that rink should have ice whole year. they also want to build an ice rink in Zenica.

I don't know how they plan to finance all that, but I read that they want to host the 2014. winter olympics. with the help of Olympic comittee and possibly IIHF and other foreign investments, they may be able to pull it off. if they do, ice hockey in Bosnia could have a nice future.

here is the link to their website

If I understand correctly this news from Bosnian Federation site, Austrian bank Steiermärkische Sparkasse donated 30.000 euro for development of bosnian hockey.
If anyone can confirm and resumes the article.....

Akcija „Hoću led – olimpijsko Sarajevo“ traje i dalje.

Bosnia played a National Championship in 2002-03: Champion is/was HK Bosna Sarajevo with two final win's 11:3 and 7:2 against Ildiza "2010".

Regular Season was (maybe....) played with four teams:

HK Bosna Sarajevo (16 Games 32 Points)
    Ildiza "2010" (.......24 Points)
    Jahorina (.....12 Points)
    Champion (......8 Points)

    see # no. 4

Since 2002-03, no Championship was played....

    Firstly, please don't flame.

Seconldy, evrebody knows that. Just when the form was reorganised, the names like "CROATIA with Bosnia" was changed to just "Croatia". The same happened with Switzerland and Lihtenstein, Spain and Portugal. Don't worry, will will treat this issue.

bosnian national team came to croatia for a friendly vr hk ina sisak. weakest croatian club scored eight goals in a easy win 8-2; (3-2, 6-0, 0-0)

when we consider that Ina loses to other croatian clubs by 20+ goals margin, i personly dont belive that bosnia has a chance to qualify to div3

tournament will be held in sarajevos zetra olympic rink (15.2 - 17.2), other participants are greece and apsolute favorit (imho) armenia

"i want first place in upcoming qualifications for div3. its gonna be a stepstone of bosnian hockey", are his words of Aleksandr Začesov, new coach of bosnian national team and hk bosna.
in the news they mention talks with serbian&croatian hockey officals to form Panonian league with cro&ser clubs and new arena near zetra olympic center must be built for further development of bosnian hockey.

unfortunutely, nobody told the autor of the news that panonian league already exist, beetwen croatian&serbian clubs

A little bit late but here is the whole story. During a visit in Bosnia the governor of the federal Austrian state of Styria Franz Voves (who was a professional hockey player in the 70's playing for ATSE Graz and also the Austrian national team) was invited to the Olympic stadium in Sarajevo for a reception with the Bosnian Hockey federation and the national Olympic committee. Voves was given a hockey jersey with his name and granted that the state of Styria would contribute to fund a new smaller icerink. Furthermore, he spontanously convinced two Styrian companies with branches in Sarajevo (one of them apparently the bank mentioned above) also to join in as sponsors.

Seems Zachesov resigned from Bosnian national team bench and was replaced by serbian Marko Zidjarevic.

Anyone can translate or knows why he resigned?

Trener Zatschesov se vratio iz ličnih razloga u Moskvu, čime je i raskinut ugovor sa tek pristiglim Trenerom iz Rusije.

Very encouraging. Does anyone know why they are playing ' no body contact' ? Would this be normal when trying to encourage new players ?

Bosnia & Herzegovina Update for 2010/2011 season

Season in B&H starts when the ice rinks in Sarajevo are opened and that's usually in the start of November.Till then, we can only assume what's going to happen in the season cause there is so little info about hockey activity in the country.

First of all, this season there should be two rinks in Sarajevo. There is ice rink in Zetra Hall which was the only one in country for almost ten or more years. This season there should be rink in Skenderija hall which would be regular size rink and would be in use for 8 months in year.But...till new that rink is not opened although people from federation said it will be.Really sad if it won't be opened.

Now, about national team.Young Bosnian players were participating of Rudi Hiti ice hockey school this summer.Federation said then that they will play in IIHF competitions this season but...it won't happen.Again, lies from the federation.Non Bosnian NT in any IIHF category neither in this season. Why, I really can't understand. There are players, there is everything necessary for forming NT...Hope there will be one soon.Hockey in this country has no future if players don't play international hockey.

And for the end, domestic competitions. Finally some good news in that case.U16 section of HK Bosna will play this season in Serbian league along with their clubs. That's great way to progress, playing in stronger overseas leagues.Same as Croatian clubs play in Slovenian copmpetitions which are much stronger than Croatian's.
About domestic Bosnian league, which was last season played for the first time, there isn't any information. So, it's not even sure if there's gonna be any championship this season.I'll post if I found out about that.

I wonder if the Bosnian senior teams would compete in the Serbian league as well?

    Not this season.
Maybe in the future years, that would be great for them.
I think it would be better for them to took part in Croatian competitions because it's competitions are little more serious and they start in early October and whole hockey system is little bit ahead of Serbian. But that's their decision.

And there is only one professional club in the country(HK Bosna) and three teams that played the leagu7e last season are conformed of HK Bosna players.

What I would like to see Bosnian hockey do, would be to keep its own home league, but have an allstar team of sorts (basically the national team program) compete in a stronger league, such as Serbia or Croatia.
That way, those players could take what they learn from playing against tougher teams, and bring it back to their individual teams to help other players learn as well.

Also, I don't think HK Bosna is professional.

HK Bosna is maybe not professional club in country but it's the only , let's say true club in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It was formed in early eighties and played in Yugoslav leagues for many years as the ONLY Bosnian club.Later, it survived breakdown of Yugoslavia and maintained it's activity all years after forming B&H.In 2001 Hk Stari grad was formed, later Hk Alfa. But, HK Bosna was still the club that played some friendly games in Croatia and Serbia.
All Bosnian players in last 20 years are players of Hk Bosna and you can definitely say that they are only club in country. That makes them "professional".

It's still unknown how will Bosnian hockey season 2010/2011 look like. This year should be revolutionary for Bosnian hockey because ice rink in Skenderija ice hall should be made and available for 8 months per year. City of Sarajevo political leaders and relevant politicians for this issue promised that ice rink will be available in the beginning of October. Of course, that never happened and Skenderija ice rink project will wait at least one more year before becoming reality.

On the other side of town, ice rink in Zetra ice hall II is made and available already for a month. Young categories of HK Bosna have regular trainings and U16 selection will (if that can be taken for sure) play Serbian U16 league with their clubs. Nothing is known about any Bosnian national championship. Only senior game played was all star match on a celebration of 30th anniversary of HK Bosna. All star match was played by all generations of the club, even by those who started playing hockey 30 years ago.

Here you can see a photo gallery of all star game.

EDIT: Also logo of the celebration of 30th anniversary of HK Bosna

By this do you mean that HK Bosna's U16s will play in the Serbian league, or just some exhibition games against Serbian clubs?
