Most if not all the Armenian team in the past was based in Los Angeles, so I guess they don't need to go too far to play US exhibitions...
That's almost the entire roster from 2008, which was disqualified.
From 2008, there were reportedly 14 players from the senior roster that were ruled ineligible. Those players were never identified, but since that would only leave 4 eligible players from 2008, and I can tell you that there are at least a dozen of the 2008 players on this roster, ..
Well, let's just say that if this is the roster for Yerevan, then we'll see yet another ban on Armenia.
And to answer my own question, it's the Team Armenia from Los Angeles. Score one for... oh wait, that's a 5-0 to the Cougars by forfeit. :c261:

how embarrassing will it be if they get disqualified in Armenia?
How good are the cougars?

Actually, let's be clear on this.
Canyon Cougars are currently sitting third. In the Pacific Division.
ACHA Division III
Overall in ACHA DIII, they're tied for eleventh.
That's a LONG way from being 5th in the entire ACHA.
where'd u get that info from? cus clearly it says there #5

I went to the ACHA hockey site, and checked the standings, rather than rankings. Didn't find Canyon in DivI, or DivII, but there they were in DivIII.

Besides, if you decided to properly read your own link (which uses subjective rankings rather than results), you'd see that it is still ACHA DIII. That's still not "overall in the ACHA", as there are two entire divisions of play above them.
It's nice to overstate your opponent to be able to feel good about the game you played, sir. But you should still be realistic about where your opponent plays.
You won't see anyone talk about the Elmira Jackals as if they're an NHL caliber team either, for example.
i WAS A PARTICIPANT IN 2008 U/20 WORLDS WHERE ARMENIA PLAYED 22 YEAR OLD AMERICAN PLAYERS AND MADE FOOLS OF US ALL.
WE PAID OVER $1000 EACH TO PLAY AGAINST CHEATS. LOOKS LIKE MANY OF SAME PLAYERS WILL BE ON THIS YEARS ROSTER. AGAIN WE WIL BE PAYING OVER $1000 EACH TO PLAY. i HOPE THEY ARE HONEST THIS TIME.
I think a lot of people will be wondering this year. However, the IIHF has on record the names of players who have played and were ineligible, and I think that fans on this board have shown themselves to be very good at digging up information when it's needed. In fact, I'm convinced that some of our members' sleuthing is at least part of the reason that Armenia's ineligible players were found out in 2008.
As for what they do this year, I hope they decide to play by the rules, but to be honest I'm just not convinced that the Armenian federation have learned their lesson. Looks as though they still have their American coach, and that the American influence is still there (at least, judging by the friendly match we saw "Team Armenia" play), and I fear that they will once again get caught.

im puzzled as to what your trying to say! ..... I said Canyon is ranked 5th in the nation and you stat there 11th in the standings .....which to the link you gave me proved nothing that backed you statement ....lets not blow out hot air here...... and btw i dont play for Armenia im just Armenian so im not trying to feel good about a certain game or anything ....basic fact is Armenia played Canyon Cougars a team that is ranked 5th in the Nation to a 7-7 tie...!
if your having trouble comprehending that to your brain its not my fault!
GO ARMENIA!
I'll repeat, Canyon is ranked 5th in ACHA Division III.
So they're the 5th best team in the THIRD DIVISION of the ACHA.
The link I gave has the league standings by division. If you look at point totals (as opposed to rankings, which to be honest I'm not quite sure how they are decided, they seem to be rather subjective), there are 10 teams with more points than Canyon in ACHA DIII.
As for rankings "in the nation", I would suggest that nearly every ACHA DII team and every ACHA DI team will be ranked above them. Food for thought.
My biggest worry here is that this so-called Team Armenia had a number of players who would have been deemed ineligible to play for Armenia in 2008. Nearly that whole senior team was ineligible, and if this is anything like the team that's going to play in Yerevan then I strongly suspect that we're going to see another ban in place as of the May IIHF Congress.
It appears as though the American influence in Armenian hockey is threatening to sink the sport altogether, the American coach and players are still there. And I fear that the Armenian ice hockey federation just hasn't learned its lesson.
well it seems that we will find out shortly. It will be interesting to see what team they name and how late they leave it. Proboably long enough to cause uproar in Yerevan. I don't mind if we were allowed to play South African players playing around the world. For sure we would not be playing division 3. Reality is that is where we should be as it reflects the level of the game played here.
One thing for sure is the team list will be scrutinised and sent to II.H.F. for validation.
Funny story when the Greek team played here in 1999/2000. They also had about 12 ineligible players but they just changed jersey numbers around and tried to play them anyway. Problem was the 'imports' looked too much like real hockey players and got nabbed during warm-up.
The lengths people will go to to win.
Honesty and Integrity rocks!!
Sorry ronnat... that is NOT true. Why are you spreading rumors like that?
If you look at the 1999/2000 Roster and compare to today's roster, the Greek National Team is 80% the same. AND THEY ALL LIVE IN GREECE!
Also, how can they bring 40 players to South Africa and change jerseys to play? Please look into the data and know your facts before spreading rumors like that. A few players are trying to hold back all the "imports" and are fighting back all the Greek abroad to want to develop Greek Hockey in Canada or the States. So it's a shame when you spread rumors like that.
Like I said, compare the 2 rosters! 1999 and 2008.
Also... in 1999/2000 EVERYONE on the roster played! EVERYONE! Not one person got "nabbed" during warm-up. I like Honesty and Integrity too ronnat, and because you claim you do too, please look into it and set the record straight.
I think the IIHF Principle from http://www.iihf.com/fileadmin/user_u...and_Bylaws.pdf is worth noting.
"It is the objective of the IIHF that national teams competing in IIHF championships shall reflect the status and standard of the sport as currently played by citizens of and in the country concerned and to protect the integrity of international competition."

I rather disagree. I think what it says is exactly right. And I think that in recent years the IIHF has made efforts to ensure that that's exactly how it happens. Aside from the NHL-heavy top nations, you don't find too many national teams where the majority of players play outside of their own nation.
And when one such nation came along in recent years (Armenia), the IIHF came down on them. Hard.

Apparently not hard enough if they're doing the same thing again.Maybe they hopes that since its in there country they wont do anything.

We don't know for certain that they are doing it again, the preliminary roster hasn't been posted yet.
But I have no doubt that if we see a repeat on the ice with ineligible players, we'll see a repeat off the ice as well from the IIHF. There's a history here, and everybody knows it now.
Apologies. Year was actually 1998 and I was member of I.I.H.F. Tournament Directorate and can assure you I am 100% correct.
Greece only returned to the I.I.H.F. World Championships in 2008 having gone through qualifying tournament.
Please check I.I.H.F. past tournaments on website for verification. It is ancient history and was a remark made without malice or disrespect. It was funny at the time.
Greece are a good team who will be in LUXEMBURG this year and will do their country proud. I did not mean to offend.:c212:

Ronnat, i would like to apologoze too for beeing offended. It's just that the boys of the National Team are trying really hard to protect the team and the "invasion" of non-eligibles. Their federation doesnt really care, it's the players that are protecting this. I know this because I am friends with players on the National Team. They have won the trust of the IIHF and get really upset when someone implies that something fishy is going on. Yes it is ancient history and be asure that everything is 100% open and honest with the IIHF.
Good luck to Greece and all teams at the 2010 WC Div.III in Lux. Great results and more important, clean and fair results.
