When Adam Shell coached Serbia to a win over Israel at the Division II World Championship earlier this year, it marked a true "hockey is global" moment that only people who love the game can truly appreciate : a Jewish coach from Canada directing the Serbian team while opposing a Catholic French-Canadian coach (and former Stanley Cup winner) in Jean Perron, who was directing the Israeli team.
I wrote the current NHL.com Across the Pond article about Shell and the Serbian program, but wanted to note that side angle, since it didn't fit the context of the article.
