Looking at Play off games from Swedish Div.I I came across a Greek-sounding name, Nikos Tselios. Turns out he is listed on eurohockey.net (http://www.eurohockey.net/players/show_player.cgi?serial=102798) as USA / GRE and according to their stats he has played in NHL for Carolina... Perhaps a back bone of a future greek national team?

You think you'd ever be able to get him to play 2 years in Greece?

Their Greek names have been transliterated into English in different ways, but the pronunciation is the same.

The Greek Ice Hockey players are getting together once again for their trip to the Czech Republic. A 30-player team has been assembled for this trip. The team will fly to Prague on Friday March 23rd for an intense 10-day training at Pardubice of the Czech Republic. The team will play 3 games against local Czech Teams.
Results and pictures will be posted as soon as the team returns.

Speaking of the ageless wonder (albeit late), during the last NHL lockout he did some sliding with the Greek bobsleigh team. The FIBT has a more relaxed regulation to citizenships so he was able to do this. His only results were a pair of 9ths (and last) in the 2004-05 Americas Cup as a pusher in the 4-man races at Calgary.
I heard in a radio interview recently that Chris Chelios is planning a vacation with his family and father in Greece this upcoming summer.
If anyone involved in Greek hockey has any way of contacting him (perhaps through the Detroit Red Wings front office), I'm sure he would be interested on the recent stories on the situation of hockey in Greece.

hmm does kostopoulos from the montreal hockey team play for greece's national team?
hmm does kostopoulos from the montreal hockey team play for greece's national team? No. He played for Canada in the AHL All Star Game of 2001-02. Of course, that has no bearing on IIHF eligibility, but I doubt he will spend two years in Greece anytime soon.

Maybe Chris Chelios can play in the newly formed Greek championship for a couple of seasons in his 50's and become a Greek NT member and the oldest NT player in IHWC! :P

Does Tom Kostopoulos even have Greek citizenship?

It was only translated one way. Chris chose to change his. He was born Christos Kostas Tselios.
To answer another question, Nikos was born in Chicago so he was born in the US.
