To bad it was only 50%.

I was hoping that the McCaw (absentee owner) and his crony Stan McCammon would at least lose controlling interest (meaning only have at most 49% left). McCammon is the one who got Burke out of there because he did not want to share the credit of turing the team around with Burke..... :shakehead

Anyways, here the article:

I'm feeling really good about Aquilini buying into the Canucks! It's great to finally have some local ownership in the team.

When I heard the Aquilini name I initially thought it was his father who was involved. Anyway, Francesco went to my high school but that was years before my time. I did go to school with his younger brothers and they were very nice people. They had a home (a modest mini-mansion) around the corner from my childhood home. I'm certain the family was wealthy back then but they still chose to live in a blue-collar, lower middle-class neighbourhood and didn't send their kids to private school.

I'm not surprized that he's a big Canucks fan. Our childhood homes were two blocks away from the Pacific Colisieum which was home of the Canucks from the early '70s to the mid-90s.

a modest mini-mansion

Am I the only person having a problem getting their head around that statement? :stupid:

Graham.
